Microsoft Wants to Buy Discord and Is Prepared to Pay a Fortune
A recent article from March 25th revealed that tech giant Microsoft is looking to acquire the highly popular social media platform known as Discord. The website and app originally attracted gamers, many of whom would livestream their gaming sessions for audiences who could interact via text, voice, and/or video. The platform has since grown amongst a wide range of other interests such as music, art projects, and even mental health improvement.

The platform's popularity has been growing for years but recently skyrocketed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many people saw it as a digital means to hangout in a group setting without having to leave their homes.
For the companies to reach an agreement, it looks like Microsoft will need to spend a whopping $10 billion or more. If negotiations don't fall apart, a deal could be finalized by next month.
